Michael’s Course Blog: Week 3, GIS Cartography

In this Lab we had to create three different types of maps.
One representing the population of Mexico, One depicting the urban areas, and the last one here, the Topography of Mexico.
In this Lab we learned how to continue our knowledge and ensure emphases on implementation of our cartography skills. We learned how to simplify the use of text on our maps by the using Dynamic Text through the Map Document Properties. This provides us the necessary tools to make sure that all essential text is followed, edited and updated equally and accurately everywhere needed in the software for proper documentation.
This attached map shows the elevation for all of Mexico using stretched symbology. This allows for a display of continues raster cell values across a gradual ramp of colors that I chose. I chose these colors because they represent land depth well using brown and green hues for different elevations.
