The Geographical Names Board of Canada, the federal, provincial, territorial coordinating body for place names, is searching for a Chairperson and three Indigenous Advisors.

Chairperson, Geographical Names Board of Canada

The Geographical Names Board of Canada (GNBC) is looking for an experienced Chairperson with a strong interest in Canada’s geography and culture to lead the board for a five-year term. If you enjoy working collaboratively with federal, provincial and territorial experts on matters dealing with geography, geomatics, culture, and heritage, this position is for you! Board Member (Indigenous Advisor), Geographical Names Board of Canada

The Geographical Names Board of Canada (GNBC) is looking for three Indigenous Advisors to provide expertise and guidance to the federal, provincial and territorial members of the Board. If you enjoy working collaboratively with experts on matters dealing with geography and geomatics, and have a strong interest in Indigenous geography, cultures and languages, this position may be right for you! About Geographical Names Board of Canada

In Canada, since 1897, geographical names have been authorized through a national committee, now known as the Geographical Names Board of Canada (GNBC).

The GNBC is comprised of members from each province and territory and various federal departments concerned with mapping, archives, defence, translation, Indian reserves, national parks and statistics. The Chairperson is appointed by the Minister of Natural Resources Canada.
