Researchers can now use Cloud services provided on the CREODIAS.eu platform for free. CloudFerro, the platform’s operator, has been registered as a qualified OCRE supplier for all European countries.
Open Clouds for Research Environments (OCRE) is a platform that can finance the use of Cloud processing in scientific research projects. OCRE provides funding for scientific and research institutions with the aim to foster Cloud adoption. The combined OCRE budget is 9.5 million EUR, including 5 million EUR for Cloud computing services and 4.5 million EUR for EO services.
Members of the research community can now benefit from infrastructure-cloud services (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and the adoption of digital Earth Observation (EO) services in scientific and research projects. In particular, OCRE can cover Cloud computing services offered on the CREODIAS platform, and in addition, specific services of Earth Observation.
“We are proud to become a Cloud provider for OCRE and thus participate in the process of taking European science to a new level. OCRE funding is a great opportunity for all the education and science community who will now be able to use advanced Cloud-computing services on CREODIAS.eu free of charge,” said Maciej Krzyżanowski, CEO, CloudFerro.
“OCRE funding is an answer to the limitations that many research institutions face, such as a lack of scalable IT resources or high costs of infrastructure maintenance. Becoming a qualified OCRE supplier, CloudFerro has once again proved to be a reliable partner, who delivers high-quality services and excellent customer experience,” he added.
